Membership is open to undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, faculty, and staff from any department with an interest in vision, perception, the eye, or visual systems.

No background in vision science is required. If you have eyes, you are qualified.

Two ways to get involved

Members work in one of two teams. You choose where to start.

Events team

Plan talks, panels, and joint events with other groups on campus. The team plans one semester ahead, so there is time to find good speakers and do it well.

Science Communication team

Write articles and produce short videos that explain vision research to a general audience. You get guidance on each step, feedback from the Writing Center, and review from officers before anything is published.

What members get

  • Meet faculty and graduate students who run vision labs across campus.
  • Build a portfolio of published articles and videos to show graduate programs and employers.
  • Get experience organizing events, working with speakers, and managing a budget.
  • Connect with people in psychology, ophthalmology, optometry, engineering, and business who share an interest in vision.
